Our support: From proposal to operation
LIBIS has extensive experience in proposal writing for both internal and external funding calls such as Hercules, BRAIN-be and FP7 / H2020. In the run up to a call, we listen to your research objectives, digital and technical requirements, bring you in touch with relevant stakeholders from our national and international network, as well as actively contribute to the proposal with both ideas and proposal writing in our line of expertise.
At the core of each project is planning and communication with our partners. Each project has different needs and different resources available. For this reason we always start by mapping your detailed requirements and investigate what we already can offer with our existing services and infrastructure or whether new research and development will be required. The Imaging Lab has been involved in a number of innovative digitisation projects experimenting with different lighting techniques and high tech tools such as the Dome. LIBIS on the other hand offers solutions to manage, publish and preserve your research data and digitised content. Our expertise is in the line of advanced metadata modelling, data interoperability, data publication, long-term accessibility and preservation. We’ve been involved in several projects, in which we have designed and implemented metadata standards in customised research databases, developed websites, transcription tools, image viewers etc. (cfr. NaBuCCo and IDEM project). Since every project has different needs and resources, you might only require our help for a small aspect in your project. So if you just looking for a website or help in mapping your data to a standard export format, that’s possible as well.
The content is digitised, the research database is ready to be used and the data can be shared with other researchers across the world. The end of a project is often just the beginning. We think that researchers should be able to focus on their research while someone else worries about servers to be replaced and software to be upgraded. We will continue to follow the latest developments and provide appropriate advice on the preservation and accessibility of your data. This is why LIBIS offers a full service support. When you start up a project (or proposal) with the Imaging Lab and LIBIS, we will make sure to advice you on this phase which is often forgotten. But even when your project has already finished, we can still offer you our support.
